HOME SHOW 24th APRIL 2010

NORTHWEST ABC shall be holding their annual home show in The Park Hotel Kilmarnock on the 24th April. Northwest boxers will be taking on some of the best up & coming boxers in the country. Set in the luxurious 4star hotel with a 3 course meal served by The Park Hotel catering staff & drinks table service included in the ticket price.
Tickets are selling fast for this dinner show!

Cleland Miners ABC Oct 1st

Three boxers from Northwest ABC competed on the recent Cleland Miners show. Craig Best / Kyle sayers & Paul Hope.

First to enter the ring was Northwest's Craig Best, Craig weighed in light for this contest on the night but we had great confidance in Craigs ability & let the bout proceed. True to form Craig didn't disappoint & put in the hard work to gain the points win.

Next up representing Northwest ABC was Kyle Sayers, this was Kyle's ring debut & what a debut it was!! Kyle boxed superbly & kept his opponent under pressure for the entire contest. Kyles movement around the ring was outstanding, the club coaches couldn't fault Kyles performance in the slightest! Well done Kyle.

Paul Hope entered the ring as Northwests third boxer of the evening. As per always with paul this turned into a battle from round one with both boxers using power to trade punches in the centre of the ring. After the final bell sounded the contest was declared a draw. A count back was ordered and this again declared a draw. After a double countback was taken Paul was unfortunately beaten on points.

Both myself and Ray are extremely proud of all the boys performances. Keep up the good work lads!!!!

Leigh ABC Show

Connor wallace, Paul Hope & Robert Mcginney competed on the Leigh ABC show in Warrington on Fri 21st May. All 3 boxers faced quality opposition representing Leigh ABC. Connor produced a stunning performance but was narrowly beaten on points by Adam ridge (ranked 5th in england) Robert put in a great performance against Ben Grimshaw but missed out on the points. Paul again displayed his strength & determination to get the points victory over the quality opposition of Cameron pierce. Well done to all boxers involved.

Scottish Youth Championships

David Mcpike competed in the Scottish Youth Championships at Lasswade in Edinburgh on Sat 27th Feb. David had a long & drawn out day, leaving Kilmarnock at 7.30am but due to the road conditions he didnt weigh in at Lasswade until 9.30am. The day only got longer for David from here, with all luck going against him David was the last bout of the day, not fighting until 8pm! With Davids usual dedication & commitment the wait didn't affect him mentally. Bout 28, 8pm, 13hrs after leaving home, David entered the ring. This was the start of a four round battle with both boxers standing toe to toe for the full 4 rounds. David boxed superbly & deserves his position in the SCOTTISH YOUTH FINAL!! Well done David from all at Northwest.

Intermediate Championships

This was the first Intermediate Championships to be held in Scotland. The championships are for boxers with 7-12 bouts with the aim of gaining more ring experience before entering the Scottish Championships later in the season. Both David McPike & Kieran Mcmaster were entered for the Northwest club. David was boxing at 75kg & Kieran at 38kg. Both boxers put in stunning displays, this was Kierans first bout of the season, he coped well with the constant pressure put on him by his opponent & was unlucky to be outpointed .This was also Davids first bout of the season,not that you would know with this display, David demonstrated his superior speed & strength to create a standing count in the first round & force a stoppage in round 2. Both boxers are a credit to the club & the sport of boxing. Well done lads!

Scottish Novice Championships

Paul Hope competed in this years Championships in Cardenden on Sat 12th Dec. Over 300 boxers arrived hoping to be matched up!
This was Pauls first fight and with such a great crowd watching, he could have easily succumbed to nerves. But as always Paul stayed cool & calm.
He fought brilliantly in the 1st & 2nd round but exhaustion started to creep into his fight plan in the 3rd round, where Paul was narrowly beaten on points. This was a great first bout performance, doing himself, his club & his family proud. Well done Paul, keep up the hard work, this is just the beginning!!
